南アフリカ人アーティスト、ウィリアム・ケントリッジ(William Kentridge)の作品集。2019年にツアイツ・アフリカ現代美術館とノーバル財団で開催された同名展覧会の開催に伴い刊行された。作者は、ドローイング、アニメーション、映画、彫刻、パフォーマンス、音楽、演劇、オペラに分野横断的なプロジェクトなど、幅広い創作活動を行っている。本作は、オペラの小道具から機械、記念碑的なブロンズ像まで、作者の彫刻作品を集めた初めての作品集である。「Putting Drawings to Work」では、40年以上のキャリアの中で生み出された作品のありとあらゆる側面に触れることができる。2冊合わせて700ページを超える本書は、作者の本の中でも最も大規模かつ包括的な作品集である。青色系顔料である「ラピスラズリ」をベースにしたシルクスクリーンプリントが付属。作者の個人書庫から見つけた本のページを用い、全18種類のテキストが100部ずつ刷られている。(シルクスクリーンプリントの絵柄は掲載画像と異なる場合がございます。絵柄は選べません。)


The work of the South African artist William Kentridge includes drawing, animation, film, sculpture, performance, music, theatre, opera and interdisciplinary projects. "Why Should I Hesitate: Sculpture" deals for the first time with sculptures, from opera props via machines to monumental bronzes; "Putting Drawings to Work" deals with all of the facets in over 40 years of work. Together, with over 700 pages, the two publications are the largest and most comprehensive presentation of Kentridge's work. the two-volume retrospective catalogues not only present brilliant imagery and text, and are printed on beautiful paper, but included in the set is an editioned silkscreen print, made using lapis lazuli-based pigment, featuring text overlaid onto unique found book pages from William Kentridge’s personal library.
